My Work

Interested in seeing how my services can be used? Here are a couple of examples.

01

Oral History Interviews and Digital Exhibit

Working on this dynamic oral history project with commercial fishing industry workers has been a personal favorite of mine. I played a crucial role in orchestrating the project, starting with securing essential funding. However, my responsibilities extended beyond finances; I managed the entire project, ensuring seamless collaboration between the interviewees, folklorist, and the production team. I also took on the meticulous task of editing the footage to create five compelling short documentaries. Each documentary was enriched with both English and Spanish captions, reflecting my commitment to accessibility and inclusivity, a goal close to my heart as my family is bilingual.

In addition to my work on the documentaries, I curated a captivating digital exhibit, adding another layer of depth to the overall project. For a comprehensive exploration of this initiative and its rich outcomes, I invite you to visit flmaritimefriends.org/clearwaters

Heritage Signs

The aforementioned oral history project encompassed various components. In addition to the previously mentioned tasks, I took the lead in developing five heritage signs with the goal of narrating the story of the commercial fishing industry in Cortez, FL. This included collaboratively drafting content with my client and community stakeholders, conceptualizing sign designs aligned with my client's existing branding, capturing contemporary photographs, and overseeing the complete production and installation processes.

POV Scallop Box Exhibit

This initiative was conceived to demonstrate the experience of utilizing a scallop box while navigating Sarasota Bay on foot or through gentle swimming. I authored the funding proposal, undertook the fabrication of the interactive, and produced accompanying video content for social media platforms to complement the interactive launch.

Grant Writing

My experience spans grant writing, project management, graphic design, and video editing, making me a versatile professional in the nonprofit sector. In my grant writing role, I've contributed to securing over $150,000 in funding from notable institutions like the Florida Department of Cultural Affairs, Calvin Institute of Christian Worship, and Florida Humanities. This figure, while significant for the small organizations I've served, represents just one piece of my multifaceted contributions.

My approach to grant writing emphasizes storytelling, helping these organizations articulate their unique narratives and impact effectively. However, my responsibilities have extended far beyond securing funds. I've managed projects from conception to completion, created compelling visual designs, and produced impactful video content, all crucial for the holistic success of these nonprofits.

Working closely with a limited number of organizations has allowed me to develop deep, long-term relationships and truly understand the complexities of their operations. This intimate knowledge has been invaluable in crafting tailored strategies across all areas of my work. Whether I'm writing a grant proposal, managing a project, or creating visual content, I bring a comprehensive understanding of each organization's mission, challenges, and potential.
